MEDICAL ABORTION PROCEDURE

  • The medical abortion pill may be given to patients who are up to 8 weeks pregnant, based upon our ultrasound.
  • Mifeprex (Mifepristone) and Misoprostol are given during your clinic visit.
  • These two medications will cause a miscarriage over the next few days.
  • Patients are given a prescription for antibiotics and pain medication.
  • Patients are given a 2-week follow-up visit to assure success.
  • On occasion, a vacuum aspiration procedure is necessary due to retained tissue.
  • Vacuum aspiration is done at no additional cost to you.

SURGICAL ABORTION PROCEDURE

  • Abortions are performed using vacuum aspiration.
  • We perform an ultrasound evaluation to determine the gestational age of the pregnancy.
  • Multiple options are given for analgesia and pain control.
  • The abortion may be performed under local anesthesia or intravenous medication may be administered for anxiety and pain control.
  • Intravenous narcotics and/or sedatives may only be given if you have someone to assist you home.
  • You will not be able to drive for at least 12 hours after the intravenous medications.
  • Patients less than 16 weeks pregnant are typically done in one day.
  • Patients greater than 16 weeks will require more than one appointment.

Patients have the option to choose local anesthesia only or either oral or intravenous medication for anxiety and pain control with no additional charges.

Most health insurance DO NOT pay for abortion services.
Payment is due before services are rendered.
We accept cash, debit, and most credit cards.
Patients interested in having an abortion may have an ultrasound exam to determine the age of the pregnancy.

The ultrasound fee will be credited towards the abortion fee.

If we are unable to visualize your pregnancy on ultrasound because you are too early, we will be unable to complete your abortion on that day. We will refund everything you paid except $100.00 which covers your ultrasound/and or laboratory testing. This money will remain on your account. We will repeat your ultrasound when you return at NO additional cost.
